In 1864 some of the people in the community of Perry, Georgia began worshiping together in a fellowship known as Davis Hill Baptist Church. The church was organized in 1864 under the leadership of Rev. A. Tukes, Deacon Aaron Davis and Deacon G. Hill who served as chairman.

The Davis Hill Baptist Church was reconstructed in 1970 under the leadership of Reverend J.J. Jordan. The church built additional education and fellowship space adjacent to its historic sanctuary to better serve the needs of its members and the community.

In January of 2009 the Davis Hill Baptist Church embarked upon a new mission in its efforts to reach out to the family members, the un-churched and the lost. In February of 2009 the ministry decided to merge with its sister church to form Davis Hill’s Word of Truth Outreach Ministry under the leadership of Dr. Alicia Clark Gilmore who is the first female pastor in the church's 145 year history. Dr. Gilmore and the members of Davis Hill’s Word of Truth Outreach Ministry believe that it’s not by coincidence that God ordained her to become the fulltime pastor of this awesome and historic ministry. Dr. Gilmore is also the great granddaughter of Davis Hill’s Baptist Church’s founding father, Aaron Davis.

The current members of Davis Hill’s Word of Truth Outreach Ministries treasure its rich heritage, yet are not bound by it. Indeed they regard the past as a prelude to the future. With openness to the future and a commitment to the fulfillment of the Great Commission, Davis Hill’s Word of Truth Outreach Ministries plans to continue to expand its ministries and facilities to reach a growing community for Christ during this time of New Beginnings.
